Music Ministry

Welcome to The Country Church Music Ministry!

The Country Church is a singing church!

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.” John 4:23 ESV

Here at The Country Church of Marion, Texas, we believe that our Music Ministry is to be consistently marked by this four-fold purpose:

david_n_praise2.jpg

  1. To Exalt Our Savior - Philippians 3:7-10
  2. To Evangelize Those Outside of Christ - Romans 10:9-13
  3. To Edify the Believers in Christ -  John 13:34-35
  4. To Equip the Believers to Do the Work of the Lord - Matthew 28:18-20

Whenever we gather for corporate worship, we endeavor to give priority to both a vertical and a horizontal focus. Our aim is to exalt God and experience Him together as He has revealed Himself to be in the Scriptures.

“…addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ...” Ephesians 5:19-20 ESV

“… teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16 ESV

We believe that the Bible promises that whenever we draw near to God, He will draw near to us. (James 4:8a) Whenever we gather to worship Him, we anticipate that He will be manifestly present. He does so for His exaltation, for the salvation of unbelievers, for our edification, and for our equipping.

The content, context, and character of God's Word should be present and evident throughout all we do in worship - including our artistic expressions in music.

We desire that our Worship Services be marked by both our heart's affection and our mind's attention being centered on the Lord. Music has a way of facilitating deep, strong, and real emotions toward God. We believe that this is good, and this is Godly. Therefore, we aim to avoid shallow emotional manipulation by appealing to clear thinking about spiritual things based on the sound teachings of Scripture. (See John 4:23-24)

We seek to avoid being superficial or frivolous; but rather, we will aim to set an example of authentic reverence, passion, wonder, and awe during our Worship Services.

We purposefully pursue excellence with a desire of removing distraction. We invest our time in rehearsals and our resources in equipment that are designed to help transmit heart-felt truth in a culturally relevant manner.

While “country-styled music” may be our primary musical expression, we do not value stylistic narrowness. We believe that there is great value in recounting the historic hymns of the church. We also believe that every "old" song was once a "new" song, so we will seek to be culturally relevant musically.

We will seek God’s guidance for musical expressions and styles appropriate for each worship setting.
